§ · Interop

Comes in as a file. Leaves as one.

Coord has no integration to be approved and no API keys to request. It reads the files the university's systems already export, and writes the files they already accept.1 Fourteen systems are recognised from the header row alone; anything else maps by hand, and Coord remembers the mapping for next time.

§ 1 · Learning management systems

Four gradebook dialects, one round trip.

Marks import from a gradebook export into an assessment column and export back in the same dialect, with the column ids the LMS needs to match them up.2

By site count across about 350 Australian and New Zealand institutions Moodle holds about 60% and Canvas about 19%; by student headcount at the universities above, Canvas is now the single most important dialect.2 Which LMS each university runs was checked against the institution's own pages; Curtin is mid-migration and both formats will appear in 2026 and 2027.

§ 2 · Student systems

The class list in, the results file out.

The student system is the system of record. Coord reads its class list and writes the results file in the shape it expects, shown exactly as it will be written before anything leaves.3

Where a shape is marked expected, the research recorded the vendor's documentation but not a live file; the mapping screen handles the difference, and a corrected mapping is kept for the organisation.1 Tribal states that Callista serves 23.8% of the Australian higher-education market.3

Every table in Coord exports. Every export re-imports. Detection runs on the header row only, tolerates byte-order marks and stray whitespace, accepts both Surname and Last name, and falls through to the mapping screen rather than guessing when confidence is low.2

Student numbers are matched on the institutional identifier, never on name. A file that carries email addresses or phone numbers stores them encrypted with a key specific to your organisation; a file that carries a diagnosis is refused.4

Notes

  1. Coord is file-first by design: no LTI, API or SSO integration is required, so nothing needs an integration approval. Where a header is marked expected, the research recorded the vendor's documentation rather than a live file. Coord product requirements; student-system and LMS format research, September 2026.
  2. Which LMS each university runs was verified against the institution's own pages in September 2026; header signatures come from vendor documentation and sample exports. By site count across about 350 Australian and New Zealand institutions, Moodle holds about 60% and Canvas about 19%. Institutional LMS pages; Instructure, Moodle, Anthology and D2L documentation; ListEdTech market data, 2025.
  3. Student-system vendors and file shapes were verified against vendor announcements and login fingerprints. Tribal states Callista serves 23.8% of the Australian higher-education market. Tribal Group announcements (2021, 2024); TechnologyOne, Oracle and Ellucian customer evidence; UQ SI-net results-upload guidance.
  4. Student email, phone and notes are encrypted at rest with an organisation-scoped key; diagnoses, Indigenous status and agent details are never stored. As built; see Trust and Security.
  5. Instructure confirmed a breach of Canvas on 1 and 2 May 2026 affecting names, email addresses, student identifiers and inbox messages; several Australian universities issued statements. Instructure statement and Australian university notices, May 2026.
